Second Lieutenant, Northumberland Co Militia 1781 First Company commanded by Capt Samuel Menzies, under Col Gaskins. (Deposition of William Norris. NCHSB & Executive papers militia (66-1316) VA St Lib). Arrived at Gloucester camp 3 days before Cornwallis surrendered on 19 October 1781.
