CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF
THE SAR MEDAL FOR HEROISM
Officer Brandy Roell, San Antonio Police Department has distinguished
herself and her department through self sacrifice and courageous actions while
performing her assigned duties on 8 September 2008.
Officer Roell
graduated from the
Officer Roell
drew her weapon and engaged the suspect at close range. Her quick action and
control under fire allowed the escape of the other officers. Officer Roell emptied two magazines allowing her partners to exit
the residence. Officer Roell then attempted to exit
the building.
Officer Roell
was shot exiting the building. Her injuries were serious. Officer Roell has a strong will, she held on, and she survived.
The singularly distinctive,
brave, and heroic accomplishments of Officer Brandy Roell,
reflects great credit to the San Antonio Police Department, the City of
