CITATION TO ACCOMPANY THE AWARD OF

THE SAR MEDAL FOR HEROISM

Officer Brandy Roell, San Antonio Police Department has distinguished herself and her department through self sacrifice and courageous actions while performing her assigned duties on 8 September 2008.

Officer Roell graduated from the San Antonio Police Department Academy on 8 August 2008. She was assigned to South Patrol, B shift. On September eighth, Officer Roell, her training officer, and another officer were serving an arrest warrant. During the search of the suspect’s residence, the suspect began firing on the officers with an AK-47 Assault Rifle.

Officer Roell drew her weapon and engaged the suspect at close range. Her quick action and control under fire allowed the escape of the other officers. Officer Roell emptied two magazines allowing her partners to exit the residence. Officer Roell then attempted to exit the building.

Officer Roell was shot exiting the building. Her injuries were serious. Officer Roell has a strong will, she held on, and she survived.

The singularly distinctive, brave, and heroic accomplishments of Officer Brandy Roell, reflects great credit to the San Antonio Police Department, the City of San Antonio, and to her family. Today we recognize Officer Roell for her call to duty.

Recognized this 15th Day of September 2010 by the San Antonio Chapter, of the Texas Society Sons of the American Revolution.
